IR 80604 - Armor Helmet Barbuta
During the 15th century, the T-face Barbute Helmet was developed in Italy to complement the armor the country's fighters wore that was typically a little rounder and larger than other styles. They quickly became popular throughout the rest of Europe and served as a great alternative to the traditional sallet that was far more restrictive. The rounded top offers more protection to the head while the curved bottom in the back protected the neck. What made this style so desirable though were the extended sides, which protected the jaw, without having to wear a gorget or bevor. One was granted increased protection with more visibility.
