IR 80606 - Armor Helmet, Sutton Hoo
When a 90-foot ship was found in 1939, buried beneath the sand near Suffolk in the River Deben, a rich funeral treasure was discovered. The burial was of the 7th-century Anglo-Saxon king, and it included these decorated helmets, which were the most controversial pieces. These helmets prove that Roman influences continued to linger, even after the fall of the empire.
Our Medieval Sutton Hoo Helmet boasts an intriguing Spangenhelm design. Crafted from 18-gauge EN45 steel, it features a neck guard, face guard, hinged cheek pieces and brass fittings. This piece is fully wearable for costume or reenactment or stunning enough for display.
